What if you knew there was a thief in your home? Would you go about business as usual? What about a venomous snake? Unless you’re someone who really likes reptiles, you’d call for help immediately. You would do everything in your power to keep you and your loved ones safe from the threat.
Most of us have heard at some point in our lives that God has a plan for us. Did you know the enemy has a plan as well? We don’t have to be afraid, but we also shouldn’t be casual.
|
The enemy uses everything he can to get us trapped, stuck, and distracted from the things of God. But when we experience the abundant life Jesus has for us, our passion produces transformation—a life of growth and freedom, regardless of circumstance.
Sin overpromises and underdelivers. It keeps you longer than you want to stay and takes you further than you wanted to go. Christians aren’t perfect people, but we have access to a power that isn’t of this world. A power to overcome generational patterns and anything that doesn't fit in this abundant life Jesus promises.

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NIV)

Jesus accepts us as we are but has every intention of changing us into the best version of ourselves. A version that’s more like Him. If you find yourself in need of change today—maybe from a thought pattern, habit, sin, or heaviness—God offers freedom.
Willpower alone cannot produce spiritual transformation. But what we do have is the Holy Spirit who brings freedom. Because of Jesus, we are made right with God and get to experience the loving Father that He is, who is faithful and full of grace.

In a world obsessed with results, the way we overcome this may seem counterintuitive. The answer isn’t doubling down in effort. It isn’t behavior modification such as “try harder” or “be a better person.” The solution is to fall more in love with God.
